I have just treated myself to 2 new 4003s ( MID & BB) and am looking to get myself the best possible stand that I can for it that will keep it secure and not mark the paint.

For years I have used the cheap ones where you rest the bass on the U shaped bit that sticks out at the bottom and has the neck support. I have been looking at the ultimate and hercules ones where the bass is supported by the neck and kind of floats but don't know if that puts pressure on the neck.

I'm not convinced about the A frame ones as the bass can slide to one side too easily.

What does everyone else to protect their rics while on stage?

Cool. I've never seen those before. Only the Warwick Rockstand ones that aren't very safe looking

I don't like the Rockstand type as the instruments can easily bang into each other.The QL may take up more space but the protection of the instruments far outweights that issue!

This stand can also accomodate your RIC acoustic guitars. Assuming you had any! ;^)

They come in 3- 5- & 7- guitar sizes.
If I didn't already have so many stands I'd get one too. They look quite sturdy & well thought out.
The only improvement I could think of is to add those rubber catches that attach to both sides of the neck support to prevent the guitar from coming free of the stand.
Probably not even necessary with these, but I've had a couple of near misses & that makes one a bit paranoid.

I now see that there is also a 2 instrument stand, the GS-420.

These stands hold an instrument quite securely that a "strap" is not neccesary.

A bit off topic - hard to tell by the pix, but Jeffrey, is the body of the 4005 WB thinner than the non-WB?

Chris Pappas can do a side by side comparison with his two but I think they are the same thickness, perhaps the double binding is creating the illusion of a thinner body. The WB is considerably lighter in weight than the standard 4005, I found this out at the Columbus Confluence when I had my first chance to compare both versions.

After seeing Jeff's stand at the Mid Atlantic Confluence, I ordered the one that holds 5 off of ebay. I'm very happy with it.

I was originally going to get the 7 instrument stand just for MARF, as that is how many I brought, but decided that the 3 place one was more practical for gigging.
