Can anyone tell me anything about this cabinet-brand,year,value etc... . It has Jensen speakers-a guitar player I know said they are called bluebacks. He also said the speakers have a really good brite cutting tone-I think so too-bright but not tiring.

Nothing but silence? Either: 1. I asked a stupid question (although I feel I at least should have at least gotten a stupid answer). 2. Stumped the audience.(did not think it was possible) 3. You're all just being nice in not telling me what a piece of junk it is. 4. None of the above (usually the answer)

Vintage: 1958-62, judging from the construction methods, grille cloth and piping. May not be original speakers (?)

Looks to be part of a portable PA rig.

Not junk, but really a waste of cubic air.

As best as I can decipher, the speakers are from 1966 (or could it be 56?), so it would seem you are right about them not being original. They do sound good though. I suppose I can feel free to remove them and locate them in a better source of cubic air (that's really what I wanted to know)-would not be ruining the originality of something collectable. I suppose I should stick with an open back cabinet (or 2) though.

Yup, they face front and rear and each speaker has it's own input jack. I don't think it was intended to be used "put together"-meant to be unlatched and placed so both speakers face the same direction. I suppose I could use it "put together" when I'm playing in the round. I think it looks kinda cool too-no I'm not taking it apart yet.

Oh, yes if you notice it has input jacks + a hard wired cord. I think Paul's assesment of it being part of a PA is right on.

'66 could be accurate for the cabs as well. A lot of the smaller companies had old-fashioned looking ways of buidling stuff right up till the early '70s in some cases (pun intended...). I remember some stuff like this hanging around the band rooms when I was in the high school (early '60s)

The feet top and bottom are a dead give away that they are speakers for a portable PA system. Just a wild guess but perhaps it is a Silvertone (Sears) cabinet?
