I bought a worn 4003S/5 last week on Ebay that turns out belonged to Ronbo from the Killer Dwarfs. He sold the bass though a friend but e-mailed me after I asked the seller about the history of the bass. He said he bought it in '86 and toured with it until recently. He says that he also has a '64 4001S, '68 4001, and a 21 fret'er. To be honest, I had never heard of them (The Killer Dwarfs) before today. At least not that I could remember anyway.

I remember them from the late 80's - early 90's. I have heard about them since. They had a few decent tunes.
Congrats, I must have missed a thread about you getting that bass, you've gotten the 5 string bug. Is that your second S/5?

Yes, number 2. I really love number 1. I find myself having to consciously select one of my other basses because the 5er has become a reflex. I love having a B string!

I remember them too. They pop up on a few of the Sirius channels now and then.

Congrats on the second 5er Ted!

"I love having a B string!"

Twenty years ago when I first started playing a five string, at first the B string felt like there was someting in the way...now when I play a 4 string, it feels like something is missing! LOL

If you are into downloading music, get the song "It Doesn't Matter At All." Killer song, in my opinion.

A few months back he sold his main Killer Dwarves amp on ebay too- a Hiwatt DR201. Man, he must've had great tone!!

I thought they were horrible, especially live. I saw them open for Maiden on the 7th Son tour and we almost booed them off of the stage.

They seem to have a large canadian following. Ron said he looked through his concert photos for one of him playing the 5er but could not find one. He also said that he rarely used the B string. It was more or less just a thumb rest. He mentioned that he sold a Hiwatt and another Rick recently.

Because they're from Canada.

I remember seeing them when he was playing a Ric that he'd had painted in tiger stripes and I was so young that I actually thought it was cool (then, not now!)...
