Safe action setting on a 360/12

Hi all. I have a 2003 Ric 360/12. It's both my first Ric and my first twelve string and I sure dig that sound, but the action's a bit high for me. I'm planning on lowering the bridge--right now it's almost 3/4 of the way up the screws-- but I've heard cautionary tales about not setting the bridge TOO low on Rics for fear of putting undue stress on the guitar, so I figure I'd turn to the experts. What's the lowest I can safely set the bridge, in terms of distance between the bottom of the bridge and the metal plate beneath it?

Thanks!

I think what you have heard is another old wives tale from unknowing folks. Set it up anyway that you like! Image

Height of the bridge does not have any effect on guitar stressing. But often the wrong height, combined with high action, is a symptom of a neck that needs resetting.
