That makes it worth around a hundred bucks then, no?

The Ibanez and Univox neck thru clones are pretty good basses. Not worth $600, though.

Apparently a better-than-average 4001 copy. Still not welcome on these shores though haha!

IIRC the first online pic of the Hipshot tailpiece - at least the first one I saw, posted on the Dudepit, and that was before it was distributed - showed the tailpiece installed on a mapleglo/checkerboard Ric. It was speculated at the Dudepit that it was a faker. Could be the same bass.

It's good to see that Ric have a handle on fakes and keep control over the production of 'likeness' guitars.
I didn't see the ad - it had gone by the time I looked. Was it an attempt to pass it off as a Ric, or as its real make? Surely as long as they don't use the word Rickenbacker or the number 4001 in the ad and don't try to pass them off as such, Ric have no way to stop them selling these older replicas?
The new Tokai guitars that 'strongly resemble' Rics are very good indeed, btw.

Ric clamps down on faker sales even if they don't purport to be anything but a fake.

Don't blame Rickenbacker for all of these faker auctions being shut down. The eBay selling policies clearly state "no counterfeits," regardless whether they admit to be or not.

Especially since they are being sued by Tiffany for allowing counterfeits to be sold there. They are probably going to crack down hard now.

RIC also has to do what they can to discourage the manufacture of any new fakers. So I can see why they go after the fakers on ebay.

BTW, the same seller has a pretty '75 4000 for sale.
Don't know how much he wants for it (probably too much).
