Walnut wings

Has anyone seen a 4003 with new features such as walnut wings, amber Fireglo, or vintage switch? Are the standard 4003 available with these features since NAMM or is it only on certain finishes and models? I thought I understood from discussion here that 4003s have been been seen coming with walnut wings and some people have recieved the new tone switch, am I wrong? If it's not finish specific, then walnut wings should be seen on Mapleglo too. That would be cool!
If Amber Fireglo is available, Ric's site doesn't show any shipped anywhere yet. I'd love to check it out in person.

Check this out.

The walnut wings should be available on all finishes, and the new tone switch as well.

all 4003 basses are now being made with walnut headwings ... with the 18 month wait time you should start seeing amber fireglo basses at retailers about june 2007 ... and they will still be making them in 2008 as well ... and that is just completing orders placed in 2006 ... and if everybody keeps buying new Rics the wait time could go up ...

Holy **** Bob that's the one. Where did you get the picture? I want it now, and don't tell me that is some promotional demo I can never have!
I would just add a back-painted 1/2" guard, vintage knobs, toaster and then I would have just what I want.

Wes, I emailed
www.guitarville.com about 2 months ago, and they had it back then. Who know if they still have it.
Tommy is the guy 206-363-8188, and they wanted
$1,199.00 plus $30.00 shipping.
Good luck!

What is the typical off the rack price for a new 4003 these days?

I think Guitarville is about $50 bucks too high.
If they throw in shipping they would be in the ball park.

Here's a good shot of the walnut wings on my new 4003fg. It was built in late August 2005 so it doesn't have the tone switch.

Argh, the headstock looks so good!!!!! If only . . . no binding and dot fretboard . . . I've already got a deluxe, and I'm not gonna buy another bass unless it is significantly different . . .

I don't think 1199 is too high; I'm paying Mike Parks
1195 for mine...
The one at Guitarville is very nice; I've played it.
The neck-through has a nice bit of flame too.
Tommy's a nice guy too; maybe if you're real nice.....

Not complaining, just asking. I've never bought a new guitar in my life.

If you're worried about the "price hit as soon as you drive off the lot", Ricks more than any other factory instrument
really hold their value.
As for build quality; even though they may lack certain nuances that the old ones have, they are better built and more consistent than ever. I've been very impressed with their recent output.

You know, I still can't believe what a difference the walnut wings make to me. I'd been thinking about getting hold of another V63 but now these babies are on the way I really don't care so much about the V63 anymore. Although I'd have to fit a 1/2 inch toaster of course, and preferably a plexi trc.
Speaking of which, Rosetti told me a while back me that they can't replace a raised trc with a plexi. I thought you could in the States. If you can, then how come we can't?
And on the subject of Ric pricing, in the UK you can't get a new 4003 for under £950.00.....so if I could get one for the equivalent of $1100 or so I'd probably get 2!
