Does anyone know if rick ever made pickups that are wound out of phase ..to get a hum-bucking effect...seems to me that a pair of single-coil hum cancelling hi-gains would be perfect in a 4003

Presently they produce the cobalt/samarium HB1 humbucker pickup. They are wonderful, musical p/us which share the same footprint as the Toaster and HiGain. In the past they made some larger style humbuckers which I've seen on slant fret model 481s:

AFAIK RIC never made reverse pickups to give the Jazz Bass type of humbucking with both pickups on full.

I've always just assumed that RIC pickups worked that way. They don't?

If they did there would be a significant difference in hum with the two pickups at the same volume vs. one turned down.

Is there any one who will wind a high gain more than stock? I want to make the bridge pickup hotter.

Hi Dan. Just read your posts. If you can afford to wait a couple of hours, I'll be happy to discuss with you the details of this hotter pickup. Stay in tune.
