Looks great, but I have a hard time believing that that binding is still that white.

I agree Scott but if it spent a lot of time in the case, the finish could be relatively un-yellowed. Then factor in flash photography plus digital color interpretation, the binding could appear that way in a picture. In any event, the price is simply too high.

"Looks great, but I have a hard time believing that that binding is still that white."

Right- unless it was never used, and you have to wonder why it was never used.

THe rule of thumb I have seen and followed with mint guitars, particularly '70's Fenders- if they are mint, there's a good chance that they are not good players and were unused as a result. Most any mint '70's Fender I see I steer clear of.

Then again most Rickenbacker owners take greater pride in their instruments so this rule might not apply.

YMMV.

Wow thats nice. You have one like that right Ted?

1976 was a good year. Damn...

I would think more people would trim out the newer Monty Brown finish with black trim. Its a great look.

I would go $1300, maybe $1350.
It reminds me of my old 4002, that Dave know has.
Same finish, with black p/g.

If monty brown was a little lighter black would look great. The outer edges are a bit too dark, and gold looks best IMO.

It would look even better with a laminated b/w/b/w/b pickguard. Like Dave's or Ted's Walnut 4002's, or the 4002 prototype (Smith, p.211).

Hey Bob,

This is too funny....my FIRST MB which was a gift last December was REALLY dark around the edges.

After returning because of a defective switch, Mike Parks sent me a BEAUTIFUL LIGHT COLORED Monty. I like it much better than the first. It also has a nicely figured neck that the first one didn't have!

If I can ever get this lousy picture posting thing down, I'd post some shots. I give up. I try and try. Its only hit and miss with this picture thing. It really TICKS me off!

"Right- unless it was never used, and you have to wonder why it was never used."

I've owned my '80 AG since '81. It rarely got played because I did not like the color. It was just a backup.
