Yep, that's fun!
I've seen a few "vs" of that kind, but this one is one of the best, that's for sure!

That is only the second youtube clip I've played that correctly synced up the audio and video! (the first one was Klaus Nomi, and that doesn't compare

).
Yeah, whoever did it did a great job!

I think that Axl Rose might have gotten that trademark hip move from Davy Jones!

Davy Jones once referred himself to be "the greatest tambourine player in the world".

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! ooooooo.... you almost made my potato salad go through my nose on that one. (I sure hope Davy was joking)
When you look at how little the Monkees actually played on their albums (especially the early popular ones) it's pretty sad.

Oh, he's a talented one, that Davy Jones is.
Sometimes he plays four maracas in one hand, with a tambourine in the other OR three matching maracas in each hand! That's six maracas total!
Davy doesn't mess around!!

I'm sure they modeled the main character after Davy in THE MARACA KING a few years back. Wow, Davy-what's next-8 Maracas???????????The man's talent is UNDENIABLE...

Huh? As they said later, the Monkees were not hired to be a band. They were hired as actors to portray a band. This line was only crossed when they were pressured to tour, which was never in the original bargain. Of course at that point they crossed a line and ended up feeling like they not only had to play their own stuff, but write it as well. That said, it is extraordinary that they did the singing on those songs that became huge hits. Especially when you consider how people like Paula Abdul followed, and didn't sing on their own records (and didn't have to act, either.) What's amazing is, so few actual bands have emerged in the past 25 years that could contend with vocals by the pre-fab four (and all four of them could sing. These days you're lucky if you get a band with one guy that can sing.)
