This 4000 is so rare is has all of the features of a 4001. I guess this person doesn't realize the TR cover was probably swapped

It obviously is a rare 4000 and not a 4001 because it has two pick ups, Ric-o-sound, deluxe features like triangle inlays and (probably) binding, whereas the 4001 has two pick ups, Ric-o-sound, deluxe features like triangle inlays and (probably) binding. The difference is easy to see. Don't forget this one also has the exclusive neck/body crack which was an upgrade at extra cost!!!

Here's his response -
Thanks for the info. I am in no way an expert on these. It looks indeed has the characteristics of a 4001 or 4003. However, the truss rod cover says model 4000. I have recently posted pics of the bass.

Tell him to sell the real TRC and cremate the rest of it.

You beat me too it. I was going to say the surround doesn't look right. FAKE!

Neither is the indicator dots on the pickguard along with the incorrect strap button position on the horn, the very dark fingerboard, the white toggle switch handle, the shape of the headstock, and the fake tailpiece with the round holes for the strings.

This is the email he sent me re: the serial number.

"The serial is 3147. The date is TW"

Well... you guys are the experts.

He also says it has "Stereo Sound" (Rick-O-Sound), Ibanez called theirs "Stereo Sound". Wondering if that is what it says on the jackplate, we should get a picture of that. I don't think it is a Rick, though.

Ibanez had bolt on necks though.
