The Fab Four

We just returned from the Canyon Club where we saw the Fab Four. THey did the complete Please PLease Me album, A few from Sgt Pepper, and Abbey Road. All in all, a great evening! My faves were Hey Bulldog and A Day in the Life. Golden Slumbers, The Weight, and The End were done together as an encore. Very tasty! The Ricks were used sparingly, both guitars and bass. In fact George never used his. He played a Gretsch most of the night.

I don't know if these guys have ever been discussed here, I just wanted to say I enjoyed myself and would recommend them to anyone who enjoys the Beatles.

I think they've been mentioned, but most likely it was before the change in Forum servers, so those threads would be in the old archive.

I have seen them twice - once at the OC Fair and once at a club the name of which I can't remember (it was off the 60). Both times, great performances.

I may have some poor-res pictures from the OC fair performance - I'll check on and maybe post a couple.

I have they're tech rider for a sound gig that I have to do with them in April, and I've done 2 gigs with them acouple of years ago. The bass player is actually a rightie playing leftie, and hence tends to be sloppy from time to time. Prior observations from the fair gig I had 2 yrs. ago.

And there are several "regional" Beatle clone bands around. The Milwaukee area has "The Britins" and they do a great job recreating the sound. All new "vintage" instruments and Vox amps. The weird thing about them is that their Paul is right handed and their George is left. If you think finding leftie Hofners and Rick basses is hard, try finding leftie Gretch Country Gents (you can, but . . .). Gary Halbeck (sp?) of Northcoast Music is their 5th Beatle, playing keyboards at the back of the stage.

Last Summer when Rare Blend played at The Berea Arts Fest, 'Eight Days A Week' played after us. Here is some of their guitars.

Ooh, excuse me for drooling over the Gretsches. Harrison's brown double-cutaway is the reason I have its bass counterpart - the 6070. Since first seeing pics from the Ed Sullivan show, I have thought that this is the coolest looking 6-string guitar ever.

Yeah Gretsch hollow bodys are beautiful, I'd like to get my hands on one of those basses.

Dumb question, what is the reason for the weird colors on the Fireglo? He got it from the factory I thought. How could it be beat up enough to paint the horns?

You're seeing reflections and digital photo "artifacts" (noise) that makes it look a bit abused.
