Just been reading a couple of posts from a Mr I Edmondson, he mentions once playing in a band called the Secret Searchers? While on holiday in Spain last year I came across this band, 4 lads from the N/west of the UK as i remember. They didn't just play and sing the Searchers songs, they actually did 2 fantastic sets of the Mersey sound era, I thought this band was superb, all good musicians, great 4 part harmonies. If any of you out there get the chance to watch these guys, don't miss out, remember the name - The Secret Searchers!!!

John McNally will, his lawyers probably already on the case.
I don't doubt they may be good musicians be why try and make an association. Mersey Memories would be a better name or hundreds like it.

Roy: Does it count if it is supposed to be a secret?

There's enough problems it appears with Mike Pender's Searchers according to the official website, there was also a band called The Silver Searchers doing the rounds at one time, in fact thinking of going out as Roy Clough's Searchers why not seems a popular choice.

You've made my day, guys!
On one hand, could the secret guys ever be taken for real Searchers?
On the other hand, it sounds sort of flattering - other guys using your name as part of their own band's name...

There are only two "The Searchers" that I recognize:
1.) The English music group.
2.) The John Wayne western movie classic.
(I don't know anything about those Secret, Silver, Golden or Platinum Searchers!!)

Hi,
Out of 200 or so gigs I did with them in 18 months, I did a mere two gigs with the band normally known as 'Oh Boy' under the name 'The Secret Searchers'. We rehearsed up a very convincing full length Searchers tribute.

I suppose it could be taken as quite flattering for so many other bands to want your name as part of theirs, although I don't think John Mac sees it that way.
I'm trying to think of another sixties act on the circuit that has the same problem. Having trouble at present.

Strangely Summer Of 69 was in the set of Mike Pender's Searchers for quite a while may well still be. I have his version though sound not brilliant as taken at a live gig.

Thanks for the info, Roy. I'm just wondering if it's the song by Bryan Adams, also covered by MXPX? If so, this choice seems a bit strange to me...

Yes it's the Bryan Adams Song

Sheena asked if she was missing something..
I think the person in the band who shouted out for us to do that one had lost the plot entirely!
