Yechhh! Cheese city!! It's a total massacre. It's blasphemy. No comparison can be made between that garbage and the CfG version.

Wow,,, thanks for that one Bill.
I clicked on that link fully prepared to HATE it with a passion, but in fact I think that they did a good and interesting job. No percussion and using the violins to play the guitar part was different to be sure, but I think they pulled it off very well... and managed to stay somewhat faithful to the original. Perhaps George's greatest song and not an easy one to perform... they have to be given credit for sounding decent.
As for Todd's yellow polkadot jacket and green guitar... YUK! He looked like the retarded cousin of that guy on the TV commercials who hawks the "government programs" book.

More importantly though, Todd is playing a... wait for it... GREEN guitar!
Becuase green is the best color ever in the history of colors.
And, the CfG version has the advantage of about 9,834,749,657,375 musicians on stage, so it had better sound good.

I thought it was nice. Not the Beatles, but still very nice. Todd is a huge Beatles fan so I felt he gave it the love it needed.
Anyone heard the CD "Face the Music" by Utopia. Nice Beatles sound.

"Deface The Music" is good but the "later" songs suffer from synth orchestra sounds, with the real thing the album would have been great.

I think Prince completely overplayed, and at the end when Dhani Harrison went to thank him, his 300 pound bodyguards wouldn't even let Dhani say hello, and Prince refused to see him. Cheesy. A GREAT musician knows when NOT to play. Amazingly talented guy, but found it kind of insulting to The Beatles, etc, especially at the end when he chucked the Tele. Kind of saying, "Ok, I'm done with you guys". Thanks! Christian

Bill thanks for sharing the video. The arrangement certainly has its moments. Overall it sounded a little like ELO but not quite as tight and together. This is a very difficult song to play in a set list, especially with an original arrangement, given that the original release set the bar so high. No puns intended.
I thought that their version was interesting and that it possibly has unexplored potential.

As far as the second one is concerned... yes, i was pleasantly surprised that this guy can play guitar so well... but he "shows off" too much - IMHO...

I just watched the video where Prince played over top of everyone. Well what can I say? His name says it all. He is all flash and dash.
Unfortunately, he is great musician and performer who feels that he has to prove it every time he is on stage.
Having said that, I really like his songs and his body of recorded work. His guitar technique is usually very tasteful in a studio environment. IMO

Christian: Agreed, Prince overplayed the lead solo, however, if there ever was a "Beatles'" solo that would lend itself to being overdone, this is the one.
I'll await Eric Clapton's critique, but I would say that Prince's rendition was technically better from a performance standpoint. No control room oscilating knobs here.
I confess that the arrogance of tossing the instrument is anything but becoming, however, there is a sparkle in Prince's performance that is often lacking in those guitarists that just go through the motions. Prince went through the emotions and that made all the difference for me. I had to watch this one twice.

I don't own a single Prince record, but you gotta hand it to him; he's one hell of a performer. The first time I caught him was a video of Red Corvette back in 1983. His combination of singer, dancer, and even guitarist are hard to beat. I saw him on SNL week before last doing "Woman Scorned" or something, and he killed, jeez! He's good!
