I was working on an Ovation acoustic fretless bass for Mike Crisom ... it had the bronze round wound strings ... so I had an old set of Dean Markley flat wound strings that had been sitting around for about 6 years ... we put them on and they sound good ... the acoustic bass and no frets and the flats makes for an interesting combination ...

ya that's right ... you heard me say something good about flatwound strings ...

Interesting. You feeling OK Jeff? LOL

I only like the sound of round wound (Rotosound)on my bass even though they are by all accounts hard on it.

Nothing sounded better on my 4005 than nylon tape wound flats.

we were going to put tapewound flats on it but it was a short scale bass and the tape wound flats were long scale and when you cut a tape wound string the tape comes off ...

Flatwound strings on an acoustic fretless bass? There's a novel idea...
