Blue burst in okc.

over the week end i played a used (4-5 month old?)4003 blue burst at guitar center in oklahoma city. beutifull bass at just over $1300.00. i had a 4003 jg 12 years ago and the neck felt alot flater than this one. is this the trend on the new ones? gc also had an older 4003 jg as well. i also played a new warwick corvet standard very nice. I WAS TEMPTED.

I haven't played any older Rics, but apparently the neck started getting thicker up until a couple of years ago (right when I bought my Ric), and now, there are indications of the neck gradually getting thinner.

The neck on my 85 4003 is alot thinner and easier to play then the neck on my friends 2005 4003.

that was one thing i liked about my older 4003, the flatness of the neck. i've got a new one on backorder, i'm wondering if it will be flat or fat.

Hey no problem. One thing though the thicker neck seemed to help the notes ring out more a bit. Not a huge differance but noticeable.

I would not say that, really they both are pretty solid in that respect. You can tell just by looking at it that the neck is a bit wider around the 12th fret. They both play really good as most ricks do but compared to each other mine plays a bit easier cuz of the thinner neck.

thats too bad, i wish the new ones had the same neck flatness as the old ones.
