StingRay 5 for a v63 or c64...

I'd like to do a direct swap:
I am offering:
StingRay 5 white body birds-eye maple fretboard single humbucker with piezo pickups at the bridge, 3-way switch, 3 band eq etc. no issues; excellent condition.
looking for:
Rickenbacker 4001v63 or 4001c64, preferably in mapleglo, must in similar condition.
I'm based in Europe (Ireland), I have positive feedback as a buyer and seller on Ebay.

Welcome to the group.
One thing I've learned here on this this group, is that if you have patience, you will find what your looking for. I was looking for a sweet V63 for years before joining the forum. Thanks to the help of a fellow forum mate, I found one in about 3 months!
Read as much as you can and try to participate. You will be amazed how much you learn about Rickenbackers!

Well Jeff, you've probably played one before so I don't need to tell you how good they are. Recording aside I would say they are one of the best sounding live basses.
But as I've said before, soundwise I am satisfied with what my StingRay offers but I don't lust after it like I do a Ric.
I owned a fireglo 4003 in the past which I loved but I've always wanted a model with softer contours and just fretboard dots.

I don't have a v63 or c64 to trade ... I have seven 5 string Rics but they aren't going anywhere right now ...

Ive been playing Stingray's and a Stingray5 since I start playing bass (5 years ago). But I just sold my last Ray, because Ive discovered Rickenbacker 6 months ago

the problem with the stringray is they don't growl ... they are too clean sounding ...

Yep. And with overdrive they don't sound that right. Only when slapping and slight overdrive over a Stingray sounds pretty neat. But in my opinion Rics are much more rock 'n roll

I agree that they're not the most suited to overdrive, but then that appies to all active basses in my opinion.
What I love about the StingRay is that like Rics they have their own sound. There are plenty of permutations possible with that sound. I think basses that try to be a bit of jazz and a bit MM or whatever just end up a compromise.
Another thing they have in common with Rics is that they have pretty much set the standard for quality in a mass-produced bass.
