I should be seeing Chris and the Boys tonight at a venue 2 blocks from our house. However THE NW tour was cancelled (2nd cancelation this month)..I knew it was too good to be true.

I hope Chris is OK.

Probably low ticket sales. At least thats why they cancelled their Roseland Show. I was scheduled to work that (I do sound there) and needless to say was looking forward to it, but the sales was abismal. So they cancelled it.

Oh, BTW it wasn't SYN, but Squire Howe and someone else, I forget now. I mean the one at Roseland that cancelled.

Are you thinking of the 'More Drama' tour with Chris, Steve Howe, Geoff Downes and Alan White? The whole tour got cancelled due to "homeland security" issues!!!I had tickets for that one in Cleveland.

When I saw The Syn in Cleveland the venue was packed! I guess there aren't enough prog rockers in Portland, sorry to hear that. Here is a consolation prize:

Aye, that must have been it. Howe Squier and White. It was booked as the three, but not sure of the details, except that it sold poorly, and was cancelled.

The cancelled SYn show was at the Aladin Theater and it was pretty much sold out. Anyway.. thanks for the pics Jeffrey.

Greg.. if I was the sound guy at the Roseland I would be nervous if Squire was coming to town.
BTW.. Greg is a really great sound guy/ musician.

Quake was the FOH/TM guy for Claypool. Bucket head was awesome. Quake was an Ultrasound guy, toured with the Dead as a system tech. But yeah, I was system teching for him that night at FOH. If your in Portland this Saturday night(3/4/06), I will be playing my 4004Cii5 at Kellys Olympian with The Shiny things band. Come on down, well down a few pints Oblivian Seekers are also playing. Deadmoon are coming down to hang out with us )

I was really looking forward to seeing Squire. I met him at NAMM one year. Seen Yes a few times as well. I also got to see one of my long time favorites there, John Paul Jones. A really nice gentleman. He was in with Mutual Admiration Socity. Glen Phillips, and members of Nickelcreek, and Costello's drummer. His tech makes all his basses for him. Been with him all through Led Zep. I will try to find his link. Lots of great stories that night. Was a killer show.

I saw Syn at the Marquee Club, weren't that astounding to be honest.

Well, Chris was/is - he's my idol... but the Steve Nardelli and the keyboard player... sorry, they seem like rank-amateurs. Totally outshone by Chris and the Stacey twins...

definitely seemed like Squire's show... didn't hurt that Alan White was playing with them when I saw the show in January. but, you got the "old friends doing it for fun" vibe from Squire and Nardelli... which was cool.

Just got back from seeing them at the Cafe Du Nord in SF.

The "old friends doin' it for fun" vibe totally carried the night. Chris told a long rambling story about how the syn played before Jimi Hendrix at the marquee, and how the beatles, the stones, pete townshend, and eric clapton were all there.

It was fun to see Squier playing his ric up close, it definitely looks refinished. He also played that bass with the mirror pickguard and the p bass pickups. It didn't sound that different really, a bit more tubby.

In any event, a fun night seeing some legends having fun onstage. There were many moments where chris was waving his arms at alan white and counting in the band and stuff.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. The best part for me was seeing Chris literally right in front of me playing!

yeah, it was like seeing him at a club. nice.
