I will give the annoying and unsatisfying answer... it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

About $1000, and I'll be sending it to your Paypal account tonight. Image
No, really, it's probably worth about $16-1800. Maybe more on Ebay, who knows what something is going to go for on there.

One big factor in price you are all not mentioning is condition of the instrument. However in any sale post #2 is always correct. Evaluations for insurance purposes are a somewhat different situation and I'm not qualified to be an appraiser or make any evaluation related to that.

Shadows are climbing in value. 2K is not unrealistic.

What's the difference between a Shadow and a Darkstar?

You're thinking of a Blackstar, Jgary. Darkstars are those Guild-type pickups.

A Blackstar has a black-painted fretboard and I think is an S-type bass (no binding, countoured body).

A shadow has a light-rosewood fretboard with black dot inlays and checkered binding.

I passed on a Shadow for $1295 about 6 months ago. That was really dumb, even though it was really beat up.

I paid $750 but the guy was clueless. The bass had a white pickguard and the seller thought he had a run-of-the-mill Ric. I hope he's not reading this now.

Jeffery has a very nice one, I've seen the pics and almost bought it recently.

Sorry Jeffery, but if the blueburst and the desert gold would not have surfaced, I would have. I had been looking for a desert gold for a long time, and the blueburst just kind of presented itself at the right time.

John, thanks for being so gentle with the terminally dim. At least I got the star part right.

Dave, great looking bass. That is what I was thinking when Jeffery said Shadow. Very nice!

Jeffery, I'd trade my 1992 Fireglo v63 for your Shadow if she is near as pretty as Dave's.
