That is Andrew's! What the unsuspecting buyer doesn't know is that whoever 'wins' that bass is really going to get the switcheroo done on him. What he will really get is a very similar looking bass that is really just an old '60s bass that belonged to know one particularly special! Image

Are you sure that is Andrew's? I know the purple blanket, but I thought his was an "S" model?

And was white even an available color in 2000?

There was a similar one on GBase about 2-3 years ago, sold as original, that turned out to be a refin. I'd ask a lot of questions before bidding.

I love the white on white look. It would be perfect if it was a "S". Well to me at least.
No, I don't play the sax.

Yes, it is my bass. I did ask here,

http://www.rickresource.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=5&post=197134#POST197134ld
the other week and asked a few other people about the finish and still couldn't get a positive reply if was a factory or refinned job.

There are traces of bare wood in the cavities, like Gary Clauson's wht/wht and it does have the serial number written in there too, just not on a piece of tape. Officially, white ended in 1999, but as we know the timeline sometimes runs a little longer. Blueboy basses were still being delivered in late 05, even though it was only a colour for 2004.

Jeff, that was funny! Kinda like a "New lamps for old" thing...

Yeah Wints, I thought someone was trying to run a scam using your picture.

That bass is beautiful. Throw on checker binding and that could serve as a template for the mythical "Anniversary Bass" as far as Im concerned.

I'd also jump on it if it were and 'S' series 4003...

Andy - it IS you... I didn't recognize the handle. Sorry for doubting you... you know these days you just can't be too careful.

I should have recognized the bedspread! not as famous as the Rath couch, but still.

Awesome looking bass.

No problem Ilan...That's the girl's handle for her stuff...

I'm with you all when it comes to fake auctions and the like. The purple background is the giveaway really!

I just wish I knew for certain if it was factory or a refin. It is a very good job and looks similar in finish (not in colour!) to a 4003 Blueboy I saw a year ago. With a serial number in the cavity and the bare wood underneath the white paint I tend to lead to a stock finish. I can't think why someone else would write the serial number in the cavity. Anyone?

I hope I'm not missing anything and am certainly not trying to mislead. If anyone wins it and is not happy, I'll take it back. Simple as that...
