Rics with star inlays?

This is an odd question, but I saw some pictures of a 4004LK bass, one of those strictly limited types. http://www.rickbeat.com/modelslibrary/4004lk/4004lk.htm

Obviously this model is something of an odd duck, but it got me to wondering: does any other Ric model, guitar or bass, have star inlays like that? Every other model I've seen has either dots or fins. I'm not too sure about the rest of the beast, but those star inlays are cool.

Nope. Although there could be a one-off or two hiding out somewhere...

Nope! But I wish they did! That is unique to the Lemmy.

I never know whether Paul is speculating or if he actually knows something he isn't telling us. Image

I think it's one those deals where it's for Paul to know and everyone else to figure out.Image

I would love one with Star inlays, because Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi had a strat with star inlays. Since he is one of my favorite guitarists, I was thinking about asking Paul W> about the feasibility of having them installed on a guitar, maybe even a Rick, but thought I would get shot for bringing it up here!

It can be done... It is not easy and you would have to replace the fret board. It might be cheaper to buy a LK.

Dave, I think I could do a fretboard job with star inlays for a bit less than $10K or so!

But, seriously, Scoob, it's a lot of work and expense, compared to the finished result, which would be quite subtle.

Sorry Paul;

I should have clarified...

I was referring to the original list price..Image

No problem, Dave. Ten grand is a bit stiff...

Considerably less, considering I play guitar and a 4004LK conversion would entail a new body grafted on, a new headstock... essentially destroying one of the 60 LKs just to avoid new inlays. Hum...

Reminiscent of Guyatone. (I think)

Interesting models, but I think I will wait for something a bit more, um..., yeah. I was actually pondering having a Strat neck done with star inlays, and that way I could always just change it out onto a new guitar like a Tele if my mood ever changed.
