I'm sure you all know about these but I was looking at an old Sid Barrett era Pink Floyd video and spotted a Rick. I also have a video of Steppenwolf with a Rick on Born to be wild!

I remember seeing an old Pink Floyd album, Ummmagumma IIRC, that had a spread of all their equipment, and there was a beautiful FG 4001...had to be mid to late 60's...

yeah, that bass is in the DVD for the early years of pink floyd. I forget the name but I got it for my dad for christmas.

That's Roger Waters' 4001. Yes, it's fireglo. You can see it in the "See Emily Play" video, which is all four of them running around in a field, obviously baked. Funny thing is, Syd's not in it, even though he wrote and sang the song. Here's a screenshot:

Steppenwolf videos are a treasure trove of Rick-o-mania.
You'll see, a 4005,a 4001, a combo 600, Transonic 200's.
and of course, a 381.

I haven't been a Rick owner that long, and it's cool to see some of my favorite music was played on a Rick!

I have good reason to believe that I will meet Roger Waters in June... I'll ask him what happened to that Ric.

I guess the neck warped on his bass, so he got rid of it.

I remember the first time I heard Born to be Wild, I thought "Wow, that bass sounds cool". Little did I know at the time what it was (watch somebody tell me it was recorded on a P-Bass!!)

Roger's bass looked awesome, and I have to get that Floyd DVD...

My green 64 RM1999, an early one, which are certainly less common and with the short horseshoe taper, was bought from an area where the Floyd lived and given the neck issues I was always surprised it had not been made in to firewood.
I thought that possibly because it had some history was the only reason it had been saved.

I need a real good close up picture of the back of the neck to probably make sure if it could be the same bass. I don't know if it's my eyes, but the upperhorn always looks just slightly thinner than most too.

If anyone has any real good close ups of the Rickenbacker, I'd appreciate a look.

The "Live in concert 1972/1973" DVD Deep Purple's Roger glover has a stock 4001 in the '72 show and his highly modified 4001 in the '73 show. BTW the '73 show is the only known video of the original mark II doing Smoke on the Water.

Andrew, you've got RM1999? I sent a catalog picture to Bjorn, asking him to put it in his models page, and he said they never went into production.

Mind posting a pic? Green 4001 sounds cool.
