Can one refresh the binding?

The binding on my Azureglo 4001 is really a bit too yellowed now. Is there any approved way to whiten it up a bit more?

If there was any risk involved I would just leave it alone, but it would be nice to get it a bit closer to its former glory.

Try a different toothpaste! Or consult your dentist. Image

It's not really the binding that's yellowed, but the CV covering it. The binding on my '81 is the same color now as the body of my formerly white '77.

Hey Bob, I posted your question on guitarrefinishing.com and the early answer is scraping it with a razorblade (to remove the yellowed layer). Sounds a little over-the-top to me!

Bob, I personally think it's just way past it's sell by date and thus should be sold to a fine upstanding forum member at a pittance (takes one step forward). Image
