My amp tech has me on the hunt for a couple of capacitors for my Bassman 100 Head:
5 (4.7) mfd 50 V and
80 mfd 100 V
These are not easy to find. What can I use as substitutes for these values?

Peter, try
www.tubesandmore.com. Under their generic electrolytic cap section, they list the 4.7uf cap, although its rated for 160v so even better than the 50v, and its $1.75. For the 80uf, the closest that you'll come is a 100uf at 160v, and those are $2.39. Its ok to go up in voltage rating, and in cap value, within reason. You wouldn't want to use a 250uf in place of the 80uf, but a 100uf is within 20%, which is as close as the tolerances are anyway. If that 80uf is meant for a bias supply, then you NEVER want to exceed 100uf in that place or you have too much of a delay before your bias circuit gets its juice.

Thanks Greg. I appreciate this guidance.
