Hey everyone! I haven't posted in such a long time it's almost embarrassing!

Anyways I'm going to be playing George for a friend of mine at his school for a talent show type of deal. We're doing She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand, in their german form because french schools try to fight the english assimilation and forces us to use any other language for the acts.

Doesn't matter to me, I'm not singing! Hah.

But what does, is that after watching a few videos I've realized that George doesn't exactly slide down with his little riff/chord thing till the last G of the song.

I'm wondering what is he playing higher up on the neck right before the last chord. Any help is appreciated.

For what it's worth, I was watching the Ed Sullivan performances.

We have the answer, but unfortunately it's in English.

Patrick: An interesting observation with regard to Harrison's live performance.

If you listen to the English and German recordings of She Loves You, the descending chords of G, Gmaj7 and Em are all in the first position. The notes on the D sting can be heard has they move down from G to F# to E accordingly. There is no easy way that I know of using standard tuning to get the suspension heard without being in the first position.

You can, however, do a respectable job of achieving the effect up the neck at the 10th fret. Slide the standard C chord position up to 10th fret for the G, holding that position slide down the index finger one fret for the Gmaj7 and then use the Em bar chord at the 8th fret. You will not get the same ring, but it is achievable.

A most interesting question and I enjoyed pondering the possibilities in attempting to give a reasonable answer. Of course, what Harrison actually did may never be known without considerable effort in reviewing many video performances.

In listening to Paul's lead and harmony voices on the German version there is quite a different feeling to me compared to the English version with Lennon.

Perhaps the sound engineers can chime in here. I hear some inconsistency with regard to the cymbals over this short 2 minutes and 21 seconds. The same abrupt stop in the cymbals occurs twice in the song. It happens to a lesser extent in the German version.

I think you should try to get out of this whole singing in German thing and only do it if forced.

Yeah, Glenn. They were tape edits. If you listen to "Sie Liebt Dich" you won't hear them because they re-recorded the backing track...
(Side note-I am not an engineer...Only when I do my own recording)

As much as I love this song and I Want to Hold Your Hand, the German versions crack me up.
