So do the Eagles have two Glenn Frey Limited Edition Rickenbackers or did Glenn give his to Joe Walsh. Outside of the promotional photo, I have not seen another with Glenn Frey using his Signature model. Joe, on the other hand, has been spotted with his on
stage and even on the "Drew Carey Show." If you know the story behind this, please send it along.

Joe Walsh has often been seen with a Glenn Frey model. He's really likes it and also recommended one to Paul McCartney, via Steve Miller. He's got another one on order now.
You'll see Glenn playing his guitar on the "Strange Weather" CD and other photos during the same year. Seems like he's gravitated away from guitar in recent years, however.

When did the white stripe and the letters "R-I-C" get added to the pickups of these guitars? In the pic of Glen holding the guitar (at RIC web site) as well as the pic of the guitar resting on Joe Walsh's flight case (as linked in Peter's post), the pickups appear solid black. Yet on all the other Glen Frey models I've seen, the pickups have the white stripe going across the bottom, with the letters R-I-C blended in. For example:

I'm curious; I've never played any of the solid body RICs before, and I'm potentially interested in the Glenn Frey limited edition. How does this guitar sound when compared to my 325V63, or for that matter, when compared to my solid body guitars (a Fender American Tele, and a Fender Strat)? Appreciate any input here; thanks!

Arlech: Information regarding the
Rickenbacker 200-2000 Series Instruments has been taken from an older RIC Catalog which you may find of interest. Please also note that the
Glenn Frey Model has been discontinued. This is a great slide guitar as Joe Walsh has certainly demonstrated. You will be able to see adiitional information regarding the 200 series guitars under the topic Rickenbacker Guitars on the Rickenbacker Forum. Posts under this guitar topic may provide you with comments from owners who are able to describe the sound of the 200 series instruments and compare it to the Telecaster and Stratocaster models.

Resurrecting a very old thread, I just saw The Eagles in San Jose on April 30, 2010 and Joe Walsh played a Jetglo 381 of some sort on Don Henley's song, The Boys of Summer. I don't think he played any slide on the song.
I was too far away to see whether it was a 381JK or a 381V69 or a vintage 381 (not that I would have been able to distinguish a V69 from a genuine 69 even if I had been a lot closer). Neither Joe nor Glenn Frey played a 230GF that I saw.
And, BTW, they sounded great!
