Speakers shot!

Hi folks, looks like my 50 watt Kustom's 12" speakers are shot, so it's time for some replacements. Given that I only play bass through my K100 head and the fact that I like my mids (though the amp has no mid control), does anyone have a suggestion for 16 Ohm speakers? I think I blew them cranking the mids up too high on the SANSamp DI box I was using for extra EQ.
Thanks in advance!

The pickup's in the mail, Lee. As for suggestions on speakers, sorry, but I'm a total layman when it comes to loudspeaker brands.

16 ohm speakers are not very common anymore and the old ones are usually rated at 50 watts or less. How about Jensen? They might have one.

What is your configuration. How many speakers are you using. What is the desired total ohm load, and why.
Here are some cheap speaks: they are 8 ohm though.

Thanks everyone! Greg, my Kustom K100-2 powers a matched 2x12 cab. I've researched and confirmed that it needs an 8 ohm load.

Ok well, you can make it work with either 2 16 ohm speakers wired in paralell, or 2 4 ohm speakers wired in series. Both will make an 8 ohm load. 2 16 ohm eminence in paralell would be the way to go. Here are a couple of info pages on the subject.

Cool, thanks Greg. I went ahead and ordered 2 16 ohm eminences. Looking forward to all-around better sound outta the ol' tuck n' roll.

So how do you like that amp? Is it an original or a reissue? I always wondered about the tuck n' rolls.

I picked up a nice K200 with 2x15 cab in blue t&r locally for a friend in San Diego, and it sounds great.
BTW, in an interesting instance of synchronicity, the Kustom amp knobs are the same as those found on Rickenbacker TR series amps from the 1970s.

I really dig my black '68. She's old, but in remarkably good shape, overall. It's a guitar/bass amp and the right side of the head has trem and reverb controls, so I've got a few more bullets in the sound arsenal.
I do wish I had the 2x15 T&R cab, but for now, all I can do is hope that the replacement speakers can hold up in the clubs around town.
