I've got one myself are they rare? RIC says 84-88 but that Jam picture is 77ish!

850 pounds in the UK is not a particularly high price for one of these in Ruby.

Paul, mine is '88, still seems expensive to me as I bought a 360 12 FG recently & put toasters on it for 75pounds less than that!

So guitars that are not FG JG & MG standard colours go for a higher price on the secondhand market?

But of course. Some are annual colors, others had short runs, others just weren't as popular as the standard FGs, MGs and JGs.

A Forum member recently purchased a very nice 320 in Azureglo and paid a premium price. AZ and Ruby (which I think is much rarer) are two desirable colors. For some reason, Desert Gold doesn't have too many admirers, but may some day bring higher prices regularly because of its rarity. And Sea Green is another that you love or hate, but there's no denying the rarity.

So, the short answer to your question is "not necessarily", but depending upon the color and condition, it's possible.

Weller's guitar (and Foxton's) are both Burgundyglo. I recently purchased an '80 Burgundyglo 360WB for about $1400. It's near mint.

I would say that at $1482 without stereo and deluxe features that guitar is WAY overpriced, except to someone who really wanted EXACTLY that combo.

OK, Stirling. The guitar sold on eBay WAS Ruby, despite its misrepresentation as a guitar similar to Weller's.

A BG would not have been worth as much, as it is not so rare as Ruby.

Don't get your apples and oranges mixed up here--no collector buys guitars based upon player's desirable features, unless they contribute to rarity or collectibility. Hence, stereo (seldom used) and "deluxe features", both of which would make it a 360, have no bearing here. We are not talking comparison shopping for new guitars.

A Ruby 330 in the UK is a very, very rare bird, especially in such pristine condition, and my comment on the price stands. It's pretty much pounds for dollars in this game, which is why UK collectors are preferring to shop in the USA these days. But if somebody wants it badly enough (I agree) they will extend to buying it in the UK, be they UK or American citizens.

I know this seller...he's a good chap & loves his Rics. I was offered this gtr & was very tempted. I think that the price is very good for a gtr like this in the colour.

Talking of colours, it is odd sometimes, that the rarer colours & models, really don't seem to do so well in the UK. Some of my 'rarer' gtrs have been bought relativly cheaply. A 360FG, or 330FG often go for close to the same money as something that Ric people find really interesting.

I actually don't find this odd, as in all my many, many Rickenbacker gtrs of the past, as a humble pro musician, I keep coming back to the bog standard 340's & 360's....in FG of course!

Tony: You can't go wrong sticking with classic models and finishes. I stay away from rare colors and newer models. I prefer Jetglo, Mapleglo, and you guessed it - Fireglo!

Mine is '88 October serial number according to the Rick website?

I checked, mine is September 1989 (I2). My 330 is more like a metalflake Burgandy, so much darker than my February 1982 4001 Ruby .
