Hey all I tried making my own Rick-o-sound box and I don't think it came out right. Now first of all it's supposed to split the neck and treble pickups to each output right? So if you are plugged into the one side you should not hear the other pickup at all right? Well mine is just stereo I can hear both pickups playing out of either jack. It's not supposed to work that way is it? How is the rick-o-sound box wired?

You take a stereo jack out of the lower of the 2 jacks and split the signal in the box. Or you do what I have done and buy a stereo jack breakout lead with 2 mono cables on the other end.

I made one myself once with some Switchcraft parts. All I did was split the wires from a stereo 1/4" cord hard wired to an old stomp box housing. One hot lead & a common ground went to a mono jack I labeled "neck", & the other hot lead with common ground went to a mono jack labeled "bridge".
The hot leads go to the tip connector of the 1/4" mono jack & the grounds go to the sleeve connector, just as you normally would wire it.
(I labeled the jacks after I heard which one was which).

I just recently bought an ROS unit, & would post a pic of the insides, but that might be a violation of trademark, etc.
It seems fairly a straightforward arrangement. Just use good quality parts & cords.
If I can do it, anyone can, I'm not a wiring whiz by any means.

Ah screw it I called pick of the ricks and ordered a rick-o-sound kit. He still has a few if anyone else was looking for one. After buying box and all the parts it ends up being around the same anyhow. Maybe I will just look at the way it is wired and keep it as a backup.

The box is riveted closed. I drilled the rivets out on mine. It is merely a stereo splitter. Nothing more. I can post pics if you would like.

Yeah I don't know man. I am pretty sure I wired it like they said. Only thing the stereo jack had seperate grounds so I used the seperate grounds instead of a common ground but I did not think that would cause an issue. If you could post the pics or e-mail me them I would appreciate it. Thanks.
