I like 1972.

Here is the latest find.

I finally had some time to take good pictures to share.

This is a very late 1972 “LL”.
I looked under the pick guard. No finger pull was ever installed on this.

This one will need some work. I have most of the parts to bring it back to original. The finish sure has its’ issues, but is in over all good shape. I intend not to refinish it. The fret board will need new binding and a sealer/finish as well.

This is LL 1586 Dave. Image

No thumbrest ever came with this one either. It's a heavy bass for a Ric and my neck profile is more mid 70's thick, certainly not late 60's thin.

warm beer and cold women, I just don't fit in
every joint I stumbled into tonight
that's just how it's been
all these double knit strangers with
gin and vermouth and recycled stories
in the naugahyde booths

with the platinum blondes
and tobacco brunettes
I'll be drinking to forget you
lite another cigarette
and the band's playing somethin'
by Johnnie Barnett
and the drinks are on me tonight

"how's the neck? is it a mid 70s profile or a 60s profile?"

Andrew, me too..

Jeff, it's funny how different the neck on the FG is from the JG that I have. They are only a few months apart. The "LL" 72 is like the mid 70's neck, however, the JG is so thin and flat. Truly a transitional year.

Both of my 72s (Oct. and Nov.) have them from the factory, 354 numbers apart....November may the last month for them, YMMV...

And in a few weeks, the restoration of my November 72 (LK 500) will be complete. Ted tells me he's shipping it off to Paul W. perhaps today. Color decision is still pending. Outside chance it will be back for the Midwest Confluence in Milwaukee.
