Hard to believe it was so long ago.

I wonder about history if they had not met. My impression is she was a pivotal event in the Beatles journey.

If only a frog had wings.

I'm surprised someone hasn't written a fictional account of what would have been had they not "come together".

I also wonder is there any Beatles fan around who actually likes Yoko...

In my opinion, her LPs are not that great. I do like Approximately Infinate Universe. The tunes are "Okay." It is definately better than her other early stuff. Not sure about the recent stuff that's out there

Personally I never liked her persona. However, if she made him happy then who am I to criticize?

With respect to this topic, there's nothing much to celebrate since John is not with us anymore. IMO of course.

Is there any wife of any band member that anyone really likes? Was there a girlfriend of any of the Spinal Tap members that any of the other band members liked? Don't most rock bands start out as small gangs of males that can only be disrupted by a female, any female, that has a personal relationship with any member of said band? And for all of the stories about people not liking Yoko, isn't it at least possible that the various members of Wings felt the same way about Linda, who not only was in a relationship with one of the band members but was in the band because of it? Especially after all those years where Macca tried to justify her presence as a band member of equals, and then, a few years back started marketing Wingspan as little more than the Paul and Linda band, with hardly a shot of any of the other members in the ads.

That is funny Scott. Now she has had three friends ("some are dead and some are living") John Lennon, David Geffen and now you. LOL

Welcome to the forum BTW.

To quote Mick Jagger in The Rutles' "All You need Is Cash" movie - "Women... always gettin' in the way."

Has Jagger every been aware of how funny his interview in the Rutles is? Like this exchange:

QUESTION: Were they trying to sell you songs at that stage?

MICK: A bit later on they did, yeh. The one for that was Dirk really. He was a real hustler for the songs. Any old slag he'd sell a song to. I remember they came down once and we were trying to rehearse and they said do you wanna song and we said "yeh". We were always really open to songs cos we didn't write our own and the Rutles were always well known for their hit-making potential ability. So they ran around to the corner to the pub to write this song and came back with it and played it to us and it was horrible. So, we never bothered to record it. I used to see them a lot then. The Rutles in London, particularly Nasty. Nasty and I got on well. Barry used to get a bit drunk in nightclubs you know and start punching out the Bigamy Sisters.

The Rutles are a legend. A living legend. A legend that will live long after other living legends have died

well i wasnt joking really. i think she is a groovy chick. when people tell me they dislike her, or more typically, that they "hate" her...i usually ask why.. i usually dont get much of an intelligent answer. the usual person will say something like,,cuz she's ugle, cuz she cant sing, cuz she broke up the beatles... if people want to blame her for ruining the beatles...people should blame john. he wanted her in the studio. i would have wanted my wife to be with me too. i think people tend to forget, or not know, that she was already an established and very interesting artist before they even met and esentially gave up her artistic identity forever to be with him. the only thing that annoys me about her, is her treatment of Julian, even though john could be blamed for that too for not providing for him adequately in a will. even that issue, im willing to bet is innacurately reported in the media. im sure Julian is doing a hell of a lot better than me.
