Hi All,
Came across this Ric on a Sydney, Australia site .. can't be a 620SH - there's no such thing .. 620/12 lefty? or 640/12 lefty?? What is it?

??A 3 PU 620; wouldn't that have to be[theoretically?] a "630"? My guess is someone simply decided to add a middle PU and do a Hoffs
PU combination.Interesting, And, a southpaw as well...

This is a good illustration why non Americans get so frustrated not being able to buy from within America over the internet. This is a resonably well stocked dealer but his knowledge of Rics is sadly lacking. The internet provides us with access to a ton of information. Through newsgroups like this and others we get the answers to a million questions until we are almost over-informed. We can access information from the most knowledgeble dealers in the world and even the guy at the top.
But if you want to actually buy a Ric then you are at the mercy of someone that calls jetglo black, fireglo sunburst and a customised 620 a coveted Susanna Hoffs limited edition.

Why's the R tailpiece upside down?

Noel....probably the same reason that the triangular fret markers are upside down too.....HAHA....what a turkey!

Hmmmm....2 other left hand guitars on that same web site also have the R tailpiece upside down......weird.

With regards to the 620, it has two hi-gains and a humbucker. I believe the Suzanna Hoff's guitar was a 350 with three humbuckers. Not even close, but interesting.

Noel, Rickenbacker doesn't produce a left-hand R tailpiece. If memory serves me right, John Hall stated the machining costs for a left-handed cast would be in the neighbor of $25K. I for one really wouldn't want to have to incur the additional cost.

David, the fret markers on my left-handed Rics are what you would say "upside down". Take a look.

Ok, Ok, I'll crawl back into the dawghouse!

RC - the Hoffs 350 has two "vintage chrome bar" (toaster?) single coils and one humbucker, (according the Ric Company website) - so not so far from this '620+' - but nonetheless not a Hoffs model.

Right you are Aristeas. It is of interest to point out that Hoffs, herself, has two humbuckers and a single coil in her own 350SH.

Aren't the positon markers supposed top go completely across the fingerboard?
If it ain't the real thing and they are selling it at so, then it's a phony and buyer beware.

I emailed them over a year ago explaining why it's NOT a Susanna Hoffs Ltd. Ed.
I got "No Reply".

Hi John, yes, I've seen it there for at least that long - I was going to email them and see if they still have it. 'Maybe they can't sell it cos it's mis-named' sort of thing, or maybe it's just a 'dead' listing. Just aimless amiability on my part helping somebody I've never met.

Probably because Charlie At Guitar Crazy, from whom I got 2 of my Rics, died last year.

There is a distinct lack of Ric dealers carrrying a large range of Ric product in Australia. Consequently there is also a lack of second hand Product too which probably accounts for the lack of knowledge.

I regularly scour Melbourne Trading post in hard copy and on line for Rics but they are few and far between.
Which comes first ?.

The demand for the product from the consumer or the dealer who stocks them hoping there is a demand. I have recommended Guitar Crazy based on the service and product I received ( and also the price at the time). I live 700 miles away and did it all by phone and email and bought a 4003 and 360/12 from them . I was delighted with the service I got from Charlie.

I hope the rest of the guys keep it up.

As do I John, once you start it's hard to stop!(LOL). I'm waiting for the right semi-accoustic Ric 6 string to show up in Brisbane - learning to be patient at the same time.
