Well Im thinking i dont have the money on hand to go out and get another ric. So I was looking for something a tad bit cheaper. If possible under a thousand bucks. Thanks Image.

I'm always down with Hamer, since I play a 12-string Hamer...just don't go with a Hagstrom, they are a little tempermental.
A Ric under $1K? You can't even get a 4-string for that...

You can always try one of the 8 string models made by Dean, Schechter and ESP.

You have good experiences with Dean basses Jacob, why not get another? I've played a Schecter. Great bass. It sadly put my 4001 to shame at the time.

I used to think these Kramer 8's were cool:

These Schecter 8's look cool also, but I've never tried one to know how good they are:

Hey Jared - is that a 4008 or a 4003S/8? Looks like the octave strings are on top like the 4008, though it's hard to tell in the pic. (Can you tell I'm interested?)

I've got a Washburn RB2802 8 string bass for sale. It is in "like new" condition. I've only used it a few times. Looks and sounds very nice. Let me know if you are interested and we can negotiate.

I've never heard an 8 string. What would they bring to the table for a pocket player?

I generally think of them as being more for metal or other heavy music styles; they have ton(ne)s of harmonic overtones and are very bright sounding, perfect for a heavy power trio type band.
