Kidding about the lemmy... but the 72' is of pretty good pedigree.

good night. The drummer for another band that played with us said that I was her favorite bassist in the local music scene (she was a lesbian so I think it meant something).

www.throwthisaway.tk is our band webpage

There is something genuinely cool about seeing a young guy like you cherishing such a classic.

It was sitting in storage for years until I bought it and "set it free". Still the nicest neck I have EVER played. I promised the previous owner that I would play it to death... and I will.

Looks like the Fulltone Bass-Drive on the pedal board? :p

Cool pictures! I like the fact that they're not all flash photos...

The drummer "was" a lesbian??? Image

Did your bass playing "change" her?

I agree with Ted, it's nice to see the young'n's appreciate the classic instruments. And this 40 year old has basically put his 75 4001 in storage in favor of the 2004 Laredo...

Go figure.

Rickenbacker instruments were designed to play music... not hang on walls.

If I had a ferarri I would drive it as much as possible.

It's not like I'm not playing a Rick...the 4001 has just been displaced. Temporarily...

Honestly, I would sell it, but my wife is blocking that move. Ditto with my 650 Dakota, which is seeing even less use, now that I'm playing bass again. I know, I know...it's my stuff, I can do what I want with it. But I know if I unloaded it (the 4001) I'd end up regretting it. The 650...hmmm...I am jonesing for a new amp, and that thing could go a LONG way towards financing it.

I'll eventually get some TI flats on the 4001, fix the output jack, and it'll play great. Heck, my Laredo has been in the case lately, as I've had no rehearsals of late, and usually keep the fretless J out to practice on. That's gonna change, as we have a birthday party for a local sports figure's wife on April 22, and some charity event to do 5/6...
