I bought two toasters last fall with the full intention of putting them on my JG 360/12 WB. I have agonized over doing this to my beautiful 12 string all this time.

I know, I know, the pickups are easily switched back again. But you have to understand that my 12 sounded great as it was through my Fender Twin Reverb. So even though I had purchased the toasters, I just could not bring myself to make the switch.

Well, today, I put aside some time and put aside my fears and I switched my hi-gains for the toasters.

The result: I am in love all over again. What a difference. The toasters sparkle with no loss of volume or full tonal range. In fact the guitar c/w toasters sounds so much like my 1964 FG 360/12 that I sold as a result of a temporary lapse of reason that I no longer miss it.

On top of that my guitar now nicely matches my JG 360V64. Between the pair of them, they are all the guitars a person would ever really need.

I just had to share this great experience with you all.

Oh I almost forgot. Now I can use any of my amplifiers because my 12 sounds good through all of them, whereas before it was too hot for two or three of them.

Good call on the toasters! Been thinking about making that switch for a while now. Funny as it sounds, it's prohibitively expensive at the moment. Damn the luck!

I just did a search and found some at Music 123 at the same price as I bought mine last year. $66.67 each.

Not bad when you consider that a replacement cover is $20.00

Music123 hasn't had any toasters since December. I ordered some then and was told they'd e-mail when they shipped. Which never happened, obviously. I canceled the order around the end of January.

There was a thread here regarding Music123, and from what John Hall said, I kind of doubt they'll be getting anything Ric in stock after their present stock runs out.

Looks like we'll have to get toasters elsewhere - and pay the usual $100 ea.

Yes, I'm probably going to get my pair from POTR too.

Actually, I should probably just get my neck pickup fixed (it just it working one day), but now I don't trust the bridge pickup to keep working. So I'm impatient about waiting on repair(s) so I'm just going to replace them both.

Btw, mine are "de-wound" '92 toasters. It'll be worth the $ to get new scatterwounds.
