Ebay auction #7400336648 ended this evening. Nice CS that went for $7,200. Unreal? Winner was 0 feedback too. I posted this a few minutes ago and it disappeared, although I'm having computer problems. Sorry!

I know that it's a nice clean one, but jeez, that's a hell of alot of money for that bass. Maybe I should sell mine, my wife wants a new patio for summer...Image

gee for $7200 you can get 6 brand new 4003 basses ... is a 4001cs really worth 6 times a brand new 4003?

if I had one I would sell it and cash in ...

Ron, just wait a couple months, then sell your CS and buy the little woman a new house.

Let's see, a CS is a tarted up 63. So if a CS is fetching $7200, a 63 should sell, oh say around half that? That sounds good,$3600. Oh hi Fran, you still looking for a 63? (ain't I funny)

Amen Jeff! CS would probably sell you his CS for $7200. On second thought, you might need another zero for his now.

Heck, for this price you could probably buy 3 v63's and have them all refinished in Squireglo.

It makes the $2800 I paid for mine a few months back look a lot better now.

That's crazy! If that's worth 7k2 what would this be worth?

Shoot Gerry, I like yours vs that CS. Be a darn shame to paint that beautiful piece of wood. Very nice.

Gerry, if Chris Squire offered to buy that from you for $10,000 - with a personal guarantee that he'd play it on stage.... would you? Image

Obscene price for a CS. I would want a free Chris Squire included in the deal if I payed that much. I mean the man himself. In a separate hard shell case.

Crikey, I wish mine was mint. At that price I'd have to let it go....I could buy a fair few basses for that amount. Or another Alembic....

Yes, that's WAY too much. Even if CS did personally sign the certificate. I've noticed a couple other Ricks that sold on ebay for more than I would expect:

Must be related to the tax refund!

Man, I've been bragging that they're going for around $4500. A friend of mine used to be a Ric dealer and I paid $990 out the door back in '92. Mine's an even earlier production # - 475. Seems really strange. I wonder if they'll continue with that trend, or stay more around 5K in general?

IMO, all desireable guitars will continue to go up. Their getting thousands for piece of **** '70's Fenders that someone would have had to pay me to play! The good ones won't stop.
Ebay's accelerating it though.

A few of us here play 1970s Fender basses, and they're bloody fantastic.

Darn sight better than some of the v63s I've played.
