An evening of Beatles/Sixties music under the stars, with the 2nd Set ending with Side Two of Abbey Road. Plus several new tunes in the 3rd set as well, such as "Eight Miles High" and "Substitute".
OUCH! "A Tribute to The Rutles" will open the show at 7PM.

Ronn: Ouch! You gotta play four sets and eight instruments. Sounds like work to me!

Hehe, tell me about it, at least I don't have to tune 'em! Brian hard at work as guitar wrangler.

Ronn: That's too much. I may have (35) guitars, but I only let a couple out of their cases at any one time. I pity your poor guitar tech!

And here I was thinking I'm being a little excessive having two V63's at a show!
Most bass players around here have one bass period, let alone gig more than one!

That Jazz should be perfect for the Abbey set.

Ronn: At the end of the set, will you wait 20 seconds, then sing "Her Majesty?"

Dave, that's exactly what we did. The whole thing was amazing, and went perfectly. The crowd was very excited and loved it. We did it again the next night, what a relief to finally get it done. My wife(of 4 years in June)reminded me we(the band)have been talking about this since she first met me. During the 3 guitar solos I had a good time watching the crowd watching the 3 guitarists go at it, it was a blast.

I forgot to mention, at our Saturday show(April 1st)we started the show by telling everyone we have been making a lot of changes to the show and we hoped they like 'em and proceeded to play the disco tune "Love Roller Coaster". It was hilarious, tho' one guy in the crowd yelled out "You better be kidding!!"

Ronn: I have friend with a Beatle tribute called Hard Night's Day in Dallas. A few years ago, they played a special show one night where they played the entire 'Sgt Pepper Album'. I don't think they wore their Pepper suits though. And I have a pair of CD-R's of Robyn Hitchcock doing a charity benefit in London where he and friends (including the original Soft Boys) played the entire 'White Album' over two evenings (two sides per night). A few years ago, Hitchcock also recreated the entire Dylan at Albert Hall in '66 performance in a London club. Pretty ambitious stuff. Congratulations!

Thanks Randy, doing the entire Sgt.Pepper album live is our next project actually. We already do about 75% of it, but that's down the line, Side 2 of Abbey Rd. is enuff for now. I've heard of HND for years but have never seen 'em.

Ronn: HND is really good. I've known the drummer (Doug Cox) for almost 20 years. He has put together many British Invasion/Beatles bands over the years including The Backbeats, Newspaper Taxi, The Cry, Slinky, Johnny And The Moondogs, and Hard Night's Day. Although he plays drums, he has collected Beatle-style guitars, basses, and amplifiers for as long as I've known him. Unfortunately, as a working musician his collection has been sold many times over when money gets tight or band equipment is needed. They used to have a regular Friday night gig at Club Dada in Deep Ellum for over ten years, but the club was closed by the state for failure to pay taxes in December. Just this week the club was reopened by a group of investors (including members of HND), so I guess they have their Friday night gig back again!

PS - I haven't gotten to see them yet, but I've also heard that a Beatle tribute called Me And My Monkey is another excellent DFW area band.

Ronn: I would love to do what you guys are doing. That would validate pretty much everything I've played for the past 40 years. As for "Roller Coaster," I'm sorry to say that I played that more than once WDRE -- When Disco Ruled The Earth. And somewhere I have a tape of my band singing falsetto like girlie men to some chick's version of "Nights on Broadway." I hear open hi-hats on the upbeats in my sleep. And I still have a black sequined Elvis-style disco suit that my band had made in '75. It was not pretty, even when I was 40 pounds lighter.
