I'll never understand the appeal of the signing of instruments, especially with a black marker on a bass of this colour. This does absolutely nothing to the appearance of a great looking bass. The CS where the certificate was signed by Chris the other week is a much better option imo.
Probably a lesson in how to get your favourite bass player to lower the value of your instrument....

I'm not a big fan of signed instrumens either. A buddy of mine has a burgundy 4001 that he had Lemmy sign. That seemed okay for some reason, but beyond that...

I swear, I must be the only guy in the world to have never had the chance to meet Squire.
All I want to do is meet the guy and shake his hand.
And by the way, I'd never let anyone sign any of my basses.

Hey Scott,
Your not the ONLY one, I'm in the same boat you're in!
Never even got CLOSE to Squire!

I did meet Geddy Lee once in a hotel lobby in Dayton OH. He and Alex Leifson came down on their way to a show and talked to me and a freind of mine. He autographed a Circus magazine that had a feature article on Rush. Geddy actually took the time to stand there and read the article, and kind of chuckled about the content.
That was the "2112" tour.
It was a cool moment,,,,wish I could have gotten a pic.

I don't think I'll let anyone sign any of my basses.
I did have Kevin Mitnick sign my laptop with a Sharpie, but that's it.

It was like a joke, he had two laptops on eBay and they were bid up to $16K or something like that, because they were his. So I said, instead of signing your book, sign my laptop and I'll put it on eBay...
The only cool signature on a bass that I have seen is an old Fender P that belongs to Jethro Tull's bassist, that has the original decals worn off almost completely, and he had Leo Fender sign the headstock... now that is cool.

I've got Chris' sig on several things, my CSQUIRE license plate, various CDs, photos etc. I met him twice, and the second time we actually partied together from 10:45 p.m until 3 a.m. BUT, signing that bass in my eyes wasn't the greatest idea. Unless the buyer is putting it right in a display case, it definitely takes away from the beauty of the bass. And the fact that the COA is still temporarily "missing" kinda detracts from the package too. It'll be interesting to see where this one ends up. The new benchmark is, what, $7.2 k now? !!!!

That autograph looks horrible! I had CS sign my Certificates (in single strokes) and that's enough glory for me.

The only time I met him was on the Ladder tour. He signed my program (the whole band did) and a set list I got from Steve's roadie. It never occurred to me to take my COA. D'oh! What a great idea.

I have a Relayer cover with Chris', Steve's, Alan's, and Patrick's autographs on it. I got the former three in '75 and the last one this past January! I still need to track down Jon to complete it.
When I handed the album to Alan, he was taken aback when he saw the other signatures on it. He looked up at me with an astonished face, so I told him the story behind it...
