The long and winding road that leads to your door
Here comes the sun it's alright people shout for more
But were you trying to deceive telling me
All you need is love to succeed
Across the universe one after nine 'o' nine
I got a feeling for you blue and I feel fine
I tried so hard to make believe that I'd see
All you need is love to succeed

CHORUS:

Lady Madonna let it be
Something in the way you moved me yesterday
All you need is love so they say

Pretty interesting thread, Peter. Plus, I love cigars hehehe. Okay, who sang

I know the Fool on the Hill
May be turning grey
But he's with us still

'John, Paul, George and Ringo too
They wrote some beautiful music
For me and you
Sounds like
Strawberry Fields Forever
Penny Lane
We Can Work It Out
With A Little Help From My Friends
John, Paul, George and Ringo Too
They wrote a lot of beautiful music
For me and you'.

Well?

And this one ...

All my love from me to you
And though it won't be long
These words he spoke
On we it worked
Who listened to your songs

We can work it out
Although we twist and shout
I know there's a place
When I will see your face
All over the place

All the things she said
Across the universe
The things we said today
Don't let me down
When I call your name
Tell me what you see
No reply
No, not a second time

Hmm... Too bad nobody knows who sang (and wrote) 'John, Paul, George and Ringo too'. Okay, I'll tell you: the song is 'Beatle Tribute' (1984), by none other than... Billy Preston! As for Doug's entry, the lyrics are familiar but I can't recall who wrote/sang them.

Same era as the Billy Preston song (early 80s), "Thanks John (Rock On)" by The Flamin' Groovies (Cyril Jordan).

(I love the gimmick of writing a lyric by stringing someone else's song titles together; the one I wrote was called, "She Doesn't Like Those Jonathan Richman Songs")
