Hello Guys and Gals, I'm looking for a couple of parts for a 4001 ('78)

I need a stock bridge (mine was changed) and a input jack (one is shot)

I would prefer a worn or pitted bridge, as It would match the Bass better.

I'm sorry, but I got the biggest belly laugh at that preference for a worn or pitted bridge.

With poetic license, and a sick mind, it turned into: Since my bass is a piece of ****, I'm looking for parts to match!"

Charly, do your 4 string princess a favor, take it out of it's glass case, walk out of the house... and let it breath the fresh air that is a live gig. A few dings would do it good.

You forget, I have a 4-2-5. A purposeful ding! I figured I'd get some smack for that but it was worth it.

I normally don't like black, but it sure was nice just using a sharpie on the old jetglo! Just like new!

I have a few tailpieces but no bridges...
The tailpieces all have lift issues as well....

I don't know if this will help, but with Fender basses, some people put shiny new chrome covers (the 'ashtray' and handrest) in the dryer, to get the slightly worn look before installing them on old basses. But I'm afraid that the heavy Ric tailpiece might damage the dryer.

FWIW I didn't laugh, a new tailiece will look funny on a beat up bass. Among vintage Fender/Gibson collectors, aging metal and plastic parts is a normal practice. For some reason Ric collectors prefer their guitars looking brand new.

I think that's because Rickenbacker used chrome before
the big two. Nickel get's a nice patina where chrome pits
and peals.... Looks fairly poor....

Hey, RJ, I have a couple 4001 input jacks I can spare. You can have them for free.

I have a couple almost new 4 string bridges ... but I think there is a problem with terminology ... with a Rickenbacker bass there is a tailpiece and a bridge ... do you need both?

Using a Sharpie to touch-up a Jetglo has got to be the Tip of the Century.

Hey RJ . Just my opinion but if your Bass is for " playing " I would go with a hipshot bridge/tailpiece . I installed one on my 77 AG and finally got to hear all the notes that were missing . I thought it was a problem with the neck . The Hipshot will wake that thing up !

+1 on the Hipshot. I've installed one in a friend's '76 4001 and it sounds incredible. And being heavier than the standard Ric zinc tailpiece, the bass now has better balance on a strap.

well I kind realize my worn Parts request in a wee bit off, but my Bass is a little beat-up and it would look "right" with the worn parts etc...

The Bass-*** on it works good and for a guitar player who overdubs some bass line here and there It's great.

I would like the option of having the original set-up.

when they added this bridge it was done right it can be taken back with very little work.

I can sure use the jacks, one is just about toast (works if I sit, have to "tap" it once and a while).

Jeff I need both, as they changed the whole set-up on this bass.

I'll tell ya, last week-end was a good Ricky Week-end.

picked up my new 620/6 JG on Sat, just before a gig and bought a '78 4001 JG on Sunday.
