Hi...
I was wondering if anyone else had problems with the Ric potentiometers... They appear to be CTS brand.. They are only selling one pot now...It is part# 07341 ...On the schematics it says it 500K ... This is fine... Problem is I ordered these pots and they are measuring in at 170K to 190K range... Now this is WAY off the normal deviation!!! This will effect the signal voltage developed as well as frequency response...
Any thoughts..

Seeing as you are an electrical engineer, I am sure you are measuring them correctly. If you got them from RIC, give them a call and let them know what you found.

I just got off the phone with Ric Service Dept...They don't seem to knowledgable..since the guy on the phone did not know what a LINEAR vs LOG pot was....
They are now telling me that the schematics are wrong and that the pot # 07341 is a 250K pot...
I only wanted the pots so I can take them apart and remove the phenolic section containing the resistance section...this way I use these to replace the ****** ones in my 1975 dated pots..
I want to retain the original pots in my 1975 4001 bass, but the volume pots are measuring in at 163K and 172K ...So, I will just go out and buy CTS 250K pots that measure properly then I can go ahead with swapping the phenolics..

a 4001 came from the factory with 250k ohm volume pots and 500k ohm tone pots ...

I worked on a mid 70s azureglo for Steve Cooper that had been rewired by the 3 stooges ... I replaced a dead pickup and put in all 250k pots from StewMac or some other good supplier ... I used a high quality tone capacitor as well ... when I was done that was one of the best sounding 4001 basses I ever played ...

So my advice is get 4 high quality 250k ohm pots and 2 good quality tone capacitors and then wire it all up and enjoy the good tone ...

Rickenbacker doesn't make the pots they buy them somewhere and use them in their instruments ...
