Here you go. Picked her up yesterday. Another amazing job by Paul Wilcynski in brining my old 4001 back from the edge. That's a Sergio toaster in the neck position, and a Lollar horseshoe in the bridge position. You can see the full restoration process at;

Actually Gareth, I have an identical white 4001 from 1980 that's got an appointment with Paul W. I'll be sending her out in the next few days. She was my first Rick. I bought her new when I was 15. She's not in quite as bad of shape as yours was, but I'm not a fan of the mucas-yellow with a billion tiny cracks look. My final color decision hasn't been made yet, but I'm leaning toward keeping most of its original look; retaining the black body binding pickguard and TRC and finishing in RIC silver(or a close approximation thereof!) I'm getting psyched!

Awesome job! It's a shame to have to hide part of that beautiful FG under a pickguard.

Gee, I must be getting too old too soon - I don't remember building a toaster pickup for you, Gareth. Is this toaster a very low impedance one?

Sergio, I have no idea what impedance it is, but it sounds great ! It's easily twice as loud as the horseshoe. I'm probably going to have to bypass the capacitor to get over that. I haven't played it through the Trace Elliot setup yet, so I'll wait until I've done that before I do any work on it.
