Why is it that all the bidders so far are Brian?!!!

And he would trust a (0) seller, too!

I started another thread at the same time Chris did..... I was fishing for the reserve within my bidding range. FOUND IT!

I'm sure it will go higher than I'm willing to go. I mainly wanted to hit the reserve since I'm sure there will be a flood of buyers looking for the seller to end the auction early. This way he/she knows I'm serious and hopefully the auction will run it's course!

Hmmm ... I wonder if that's the one that was advertised on Harmony Central Classifieds a few years ago by a dealer in Urbana. At the time it was posted, the dealer wanted $3500; the consensus at that time was that it was too much (hindsight is 20/20). To quote Jared: "DAMN!"

Go for it, Brian! I was tempted to make a run at it until I saw your name as high bidder.

Ron, I have one and I only bid to the reserve (someone had to see what it was). If anyone else here is interested just drop me an email and I'll restrain myself. I'm not too greedy.....I was under the impression from previous posts that, except for maybe Dave, nobody here was willing to pay this kind of money for an LK.

So just let me know and I'll pass. I'll just have to make do with the one I have......woe is me!

Thanks or the consideration, but I'd probably have to part with a lot of stuff in order to pay for it. And there's no telling how high it will go. I suspect we're looking at a $10k bass.

Ed Roman had one that he pulled before the auction was over.....that was probably late in '04. There was one from Germany mid last year that I should have picked up for the BIN (around $8.5K)....I think it ended up going for $9k+ (I forget). Other than those two I'm not sure if any others have been on Ebay or not.

Man, it's going to be very difficult to control myself for nine days. Very cool with the early pickup placement.

Good luck Brian, it would be great if a forum member gets her.

Hmmmmm....wait, I'm a member.....help!, somebody stop me!

"... I was fishing for the reserve within my bidding range. FOUND IT!"

Brian, first of all - good luck. And second, there is a way to find out the reserve without pushing the price up.

Let's assume that his reserve is $7,500, and the current bid is $1,000 (reserve not met). You enter a bid of, let's say, $110,000. The current bid immediately jumps to the reserve - $7,500. At this point you know the reserve. Next thing you do is retract your bid, reason: wrong bid amount. Then you enter your "correct" bid - say, $1,100. According to eBay rules, you have to enter a correct bid immediately after retracting a bid for "wrong amount". You are now safely below the reserve. Not the nicest trick in the book, but it works.

Ilan.....I know I could do it that way but I feel that is a little slimey to do it like that. I am "comfortable" with what I bid.....if the reserve was $10K I wouldn't know it because I am not willing to pay that much. I have a request with the seller for a few specific pics and if I don't get a response in a reasonable time I'll retract my bid but that will be for self protection.
