Hi Guys,
Yes the newbie is back and here is the full and somewhat entertaining story...Yes it's true I bought a Ric 4003 in Midnight Blue for my own Christmas present. After playing it I just hated the hum from the pickups. And while the Blue finish was gorgeous,it wasn't me(Black uusually is my first choice!).All of my basses are black so Im not sure why I ordered it in blue, just trying something new I guess. But i played it and played it and just kept thinking " i think I like my Gedddy Lee Jazz better and it was $300 cheaper!" So I was kinda wishy washy from the start,I have always wanted a Ric since I can remember but it wasn't doing it for me.So I think about selling..NO i haven't had it long enough! I don't know what Im doing! YES I must sell it! I'll buy something else with the money! so anyway weeks pass and I finally decide to sell it on Ebay, and boy did it sell! But the guy who bought it was a first time ebayer I think and didn't send me my money. So i thought "it's a sign for me to keep it!" So i played it and played it and thought" I can live with the color right?" A week later I get my money fromn the guy out of the blue.OUCH!! No more Ricky! It's gone!So ya know what I did with the money?...I bought another Ric in Jetglo! And i am very very happy!

THE END

Ricks are addictive ... I am also a fan of jazz and p-basses ... but I would be lost without a Ric...

Hey Brent,

I think it was just a matter of your heart telling you this:

...if you like your Geddy Lee Jazz...
...then you've just gotta get a 4001 in the same Jetglo color config as the Rick Geddy used back in the '70s!

THAT's what it was all about; it was all about getting "Geddy'd Up"!

~LOLOLOLOLOLOL~ Why am I not surprised?!!! It's like I said in an earlier post: the way I see it, there's room enough for a Ric AND a quality Fender P-bass or J-bass. "Peaceful co-existence" works quite well at my house.

I went to band practice last night and I had been taking some of my customized 5 string pj basses lately ... so last night I took my Ric ... the drummers face lights up ... he says I love the sound of that bass ... and it looks so cool as well ...

My humble suggestion:
Think of your favorite girl/woman on earth and use her name...That will make the bass and you very "intimate" and "inseparable" from each other.

Sometimes I just call my Annie ('98 4003FG) "baby" when I'm very pleased with her.

Dr. Jeff,

My wife agrees with your diagnosis. She's a nurse and I'm infected.
