Dave Gregory With a '64 RM1996

Post by randyz »

Here's a photo of Dave Gregory (formerly of XTC/The Dukes Of Stratosphere with his '64 RM1996. I mailed off my deposit check for a reissue 1996 Amberglo today. Now to sit back and wait...

To my eyes, the 1996 reissue really nails it. Of course, all of the C Series instruments do it. Thats why they were created! Mission accomplished!

From what I've seen I think the 1996 is the strongest C series re-issue too. Definitely well done.

JWilli and Glen, you've both made interesting points about the 1996, and I agree with both of you BTW. BUT----according to what you read on the RIC website, it's not a C-Series re-issue.

Why is it a Vintage Series Rickenbacker, rather than a C-Series?

John: That's probably a question only Mr. Hall could answer. The 1996 appears to be a 325C64 with an F-hole and an Amberglo finish. Seems like a C-series to me. Now if they'd just start cranking out some 1993's...

Dave Gregory is just an outstanding guitarist. It seems like he's always got something tasteful and inventive to contribute to whatever project he's involved with. He is sorely missed by XTC fans, that's for sure.

Too bad he doesn't have much nice to say about the 1996, though! www.guitargonauts.com Ah well he's forgiven his opinion - he's sure done his share in keeping Rickenbackers in the limelight.

I believe Mr. Hall stated that C series models are regular production items that will always be available and the V series models would "come and go" according to demand.

I recall him saying somewhere that the 1996 model would be "limited" in number which would appear to confirm that statement.
