Sorry, just a shameless plug for a charity gig that we are playing at Bristol, UK this June. Any RICheads present will see me playing my ’72 MG.

No, but I just got the CR4M from Mike. What a GREAT bass!!! I am looking forward to many joyful thrysts with it. Once I get used to the large neck, that is. Even with the stock strings it sounds wonderful.

I do indeed Jeffrey...! It is indeed a very special instrument. Are the strings on it the stock Steinberger ones, if so, and you must trust me on this one, switching to the Thomastic orchestral lights will be a massive improvement.
just to get back on topic my CR4M will be wheeled out for a couple of numbers on this charity gig, even though it is going to be a set from 1976 we are doing a couple of unplugged Led Zepplin numbers and the CR4M will do the business.
I thought you would like it Jeff....

Oh yes Jeff, another thing about playing the CR4M is that you don’t feel you have changed allegiance to Rickenbacker; it is such a different animal. It also looks sooooo cool on stage and the low ‘E’ will shake the room.

.. no, but I was born there. I'd love to be there, but from Australia it's a looong stroll. Best of luck with the gig.

I have the stock strings on at the moment, which I will keep on till I get more comfortable with the large neck (relative to Rick necks for sure). I am getting along pretty well already but I do need to get a bow and learn that.
The bass sounds amazing, the piezo pickups sound much better than the EMGs so I may just lower them and get them out of the way. I have played it standing but I do prefer to sit and play the CR4M.
For those who have no idea what Bob and I are talking about:
