M-11 Questions

Post by mrtidy »

Greetings
I own a Rickenbacker M-11 Chassis only. It sounds great but I am wondering what "Ohm" speaker I should be using with it. I imagine it originally had a speaker hard wired to it, but now it has a speaker out jack and I've plugged all sorts of speakers into it. I don't want to damage it. I'ver been toying with the idea of building a cabinet with a 15 inch speaker and installing the chassis into it. It looks kind of naked right now.
Any idea how mnay watts these are? It pretty loud, but not nearly as loud as my much newer 15 watt Gibson Goldtone GA-15RV.
Thanks Rob

The M-11 I have has one 12" 8 ohm speaker, and I get 12 watts RMS out of it. 'bout like a tweed Deluxe.
Show him the shirts, Adrian.

Thanks Tracy, I've been using a 200 watt 8 ohm ElectroVoice speaker...kinda overkill I guess...
This amp cranked sounds like a Marshall! Not a lot of treble but with the Bridge pickup alone I get enough treble for most purposes. Time to replace the tubes and possibly purchase a Weber 12 or 15 inch speaker.
Is it possible or desireable to modify the amp so it takes 12ax7 tubes as opposed to 6sc7's? It's kind of hard to find 6sc7's around here!
