I put this in here because I've seen the bassist use a MID with BT 4003 in one of their videos.. dunno which one though.

I've seen some general hostility to this band on here. I love them. I bought their new album X&Y a few months ago and it's, IMHO, near perfect. Chris Martin's over use of falsetto bothers me a teensy bit, but overall it's brilliant. That song "Talk" sounds like my situation with moving. I'm moving on the 10th (hopefully) and I've been trying to get a hold of my dad for over a week. I talked to him this morning, but that song got to me yesterday. "I'm so scared about the future and I want to talk to you". That's exactly how I feel. "Are you lost or incomplete?" It's creepy how close this song is to my RL situation.

Go ahead, flame them, but I like them.

No arguements here, I love Coldplay. Thought their second album was better than X&Y, but X&Y is really good, too.

How many do they have, and what are the titles? I want to pick them all up.

parachutes, a rush of blood to the head, and X&Y. they also have a recent live cd/dvd.

I've seen Chris with a Ric 360, a Vox Teardrop 6, a Gibson superjumbo, and an ES335.

So if he's playing 3 of MY guitars, he must be pretty tasteful. Even if the other guy is playing all the tricksy bits.

I don't mind the music. It's their pretentious political ramblings that irritate me and the way the music media fawn all over them when they're only "ok". Which I've said before.

And the melody riff part of "Talk" is a shameless steal from Kraftwerk's "computerlove". Which I've said before as well.

And I just really don't like his face. Which I'm not sure I've said before to be honest. So that's new information for you all.

Oh and another thing! Their new video with that old woman in it is seriously disturbing. Why oh why have they subjected my poor eyes to such torture???

Ok - one last thing. It kills me, but he looks damn cool with this 12 string (MY 12-string!!!)

Coldplay are quite good. "Parachutes" is really good, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" is an absolute masterpiece", and "X&Y" is half brilliant, half junk.

Frankly, pretentious political ramblings don't bother me as much as inarticulate ones *cough*TobyKeith*cough* The music media fawn over Coldplay because at one point someone said that they were like U2, and the music media LOVE U2 (which is justified, except for everyone's diehard support of the mediocre "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb").

But yeah, three of my favorite songs ever are Coldplay songs . . . "Warning Sign", "Amsterdam", and "The Scientist". All quite depressing too.

I saw their show in Seattle and at the end Chris jumped off the stage and ran into the nosebleed seats at the other end of the arena. He got up in the crowd with his wireless mic and sang a couple rounds of the chorus. I've never seen anything like that before.

Back in the early 1980's, I saw Joe "King" Carrasco and the Crowns in a bar in Lubbock, Texas. Joe played the longest Chuck Berry guitar solo on record while jumping from the stage, running to the door, running to the middle of a very busy 4th Street (with cars driving over his cord), only to head back into the bar, running through both rest rooms, and rolling around on top of the bar, before climbing back on stage. Whew, he knew how to put on a show!

Well I like U2, but I DO NOT think they are the rock gods the media puts them out to be recently. I think the new stuff was good, but not amazing. They're so 1 dimentional.

I like X&Y, if the others are better then I need to buy some stuff!

The old woman video was kinda creepy, but creepy in a cool way.. I dunno.. lol.

Don't complain too much about people nicking a few parts for songs.. look at McCartney's bassline for "I Saw Her Standing There".. completely stolen.

Political ramblings don't bug me too much, except when it's Bono. He just doesn't know when to shut up. At their shows he is timed on his political speeches.

"Rock God" is a relative term. If beasts like Zeppelin and the Who were still in their prime, Coldplay would not be revered as the deities they are. However, given their competition these days, they are one of the best. I like them a lot and have all of their CD's. I appreciate good songwriting, and it is head and shoulders above a lot of the dreck out there.

"Don't Panic" is a great one. I like a lot of the stuff from the first album. Chris is a great songwriter.

But why listen to Coldplay when you can listen to Radiohead?

Seeing Coldplay being referred to as a benchmark in the contemporary rock world shows you just how far the bar has been lowered.

They couldn't wipe any of the real 70's groups arses, both in the studio or live. Any 80's U2 studio and live work again shows these pretenders for what are really are.

I feel sorry for people who never saw The Who, Queen or Zep in their prime. You just don't realize how poor it is today when you have this dross to listen to...

I remember seeing The Who supported by AC/DC, (where Bon carried Angus out on his shoulders into the crowd while they really layed it down) and Nils Lofgren (who did summersaults on a trampoline while wearing his guitar)...

Just a phenomenal bill.

After seeing many Coldplay performances you realize they are simply not even in the same class as someone who was opening that show.

That's how far the bar has fallen..

Thank Christ I still have the memories and the music...
