Ok, I think this has been discussed before, but how many '73 or earlier Azure 4001 basses are we currently aware of (e.g. belonging to forum members or otherwise) in existence? And how many of those have chequered binding? Full width inlays?

Ouch! Thanks Steve! Yeah, that was the one he outbid me on Image

I think I'm aware of possibly 4 (?) that are still in 1 piece, one of which doesn't have the full width inlays. I know Simon Mole has one, I think another Forum member (possibly two) has/have one, another I missed on ebay (the one without the full width crushed pearl)....anymore? My dream Rick you see...just wondering!

Mine too, Shaun! It's gotta have all the toys, though.

I missed out last year on a Feb 73 from the original owner going at $900. A guy drove 4 hours to pick it up while I offered more $$$ than the seller was asking...

There was that really nice 72 AZG 4000 from Germany last year that went for around $1700. For the deluxes, I have only seen Simon Mole's bass personally.

Anyone here want to fess up they have a Blue 72 too..

Great minds think alike. That's my dream Ricky too. Because the pre-73's are made out of pure unobtanium, I went after a 75 on the Bay awhile back. Once it got past my wife's $$ limit (then my $$ limit shortly after!) I gave up.

There's nothing much cooler than Azureglo....

I have a 79, they look very similar to Midnight Blue now, I think they have darkened over time as Azureglo seemed to be a much lighter shade back when they were new.

Ahh-
The half-a-bass....
Still wondering what to do with her....

What in the heck-to-pooties was someone thinking when they SAWED the neck off?!?!? Right through the truss rods too.....

I missed out on the 4000AG a while back on the Bay- that was one cool bass. If only I could get my treble pickup wound the same as a 4000, I would get a new guard and have only one pickup. Of course the dot neck is something completely different - I can't see a way of feasibly doing that. And anyway, would I want to do that to my mint 4003BB?
