Weirdest Rickenbacker Mods

I know that there have been some pretty scary Rickenbackers posted....so in the theme of that what have you seen done to poor ole ric's that made your jaw hit the floor?

Not too long ago, somewhere in the Forum someone posted a 'Rick hall of shame' in the form of various photos showing mostly 4001 basses having undergone the most outlandish - and stupid - mods you could ever imagine. I believe some of said photos can be found at

One or two years ago someone in Europe sold on eBay a couple of modded guitars; IIRC, one had started out as a 360 and the body was reformed in the shape of a teardrop Vox. I think the other was the guitar half of a 4080 doubleneck.

I stand by the 4001 electric sitar as the weirdest mod.
