I was looking in the cover and it shows him with a ric alot. But I wasnt so sure if it was recorded with a Ric. Anyone know? Id trust your ears over mine.

It has that capped Rick tone throughout. I'd say mostly (if not all) Rick.

1 & 5 Rick. 4 Fender Jazz. Others I can't tell for sure, but I suspect the Jazz. My guesses anyway.

All Rick. He got that Rick for Fly By Night and used it though Hemispheres when he got a new 4001. Only times he used both Rick and Fender on the same albums were Fly By Night (Precision sound effects on By-Tor) and Permanent Waves - Signals.

I love all the early Rush albums. They kind of lost it for me starting with Grace Under Pressure...and going downhill from there. No Rick, too much use of keyboards...just my opinion.

Yeah I just listned to the begining (i skip to the end of it to hear the long songs (: ) and I can for sure hear it now. The other ones I thought were could be something else.

As far as I know, and have read, other than a P-bass the Rickenbacker was the only bass used for recording up until Moving Pictures...of course I am probably wrong.

I dont think Iv heard a Rush album I havent liked. To be honest. I have a ton of them now... and a ton more to go haha.

I believe that Caress of Steel was all the Ric. I'm pretty sure he didn't use the Jazz at all until Permanent Waves or Moving Pictures.
Love "Bastille Day" . . . I wish they would play it live again . . . but I doubt Geddy can sing that high. As far as '80s albums go, I actually think that "Grace Under Pressure", "Power Windows", and "Presto" are three of Rush's strongest albums.

I thought Power Windows had a fuller sound.
As material goes, Geddy said that they like to push the envelope on each album. Fans have to realize that they try to take the music in a different direction rather than repeat past formulas or styles.
As a band they've been very independent of other's expectations, & as a result the fan base is ever-changing.
My faves are from Hemispheres to Moving Pictures, but I like pretty much all of their material to varying degrees. Mostly the moodier stuff, I guess.

I've read somewhere that the P-Bass was used on "Lakeside Park", other songs were played on a Rick.
This was my first Rush album back in '89. It still has that naive charm and "Bacchus Plateau" is one of my favourite Rush songs.

It seems to turn out that a lot of songs I really liked the tone of were recorded with his Fenders!
We're supposed to be the Rick experts & we can't figure out which songs were recorded with which bass!
I'd have to conclude that most of Geddy's sound comes from him!
